The flame in this undemanding scene is morphed using computer graphics and the fire with which the film deals with the prevalent issue of honour killings is as much fraudulent.
Honour killing is a widespread issue in Northern India where several communities do not consent to marriages within the same clan and any couple who attempts so is brutally slaughtered by their kin. Several such cases have made newspaper headlines and, sadly, director Ajai Sinha's knowledge on the issue is restricted merely to such media reporting. There is absolute disregard in delving deep into the history, origin, logic or rural belief behind same-clan marriages and the film touches the theme of honour killings only on an external level with the intent to sensationalize.
